Assael and London Square given green light for 23

Wandsworth council has granted permission for 253 new homes as the last phase of the Springfield Village masterplan.

The comprehensive masterplan provides 839 homes in total and redevelops the site of Springfield Hospital, a mental health facility.

The proposals comprise a range of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, including a variety of apartments and houses, and a range of private, social rent, shared ownership and supported living dwellings.

Pete Ladhams, managing director at Assael Architecture, said: “Our design takes inspiration from the listed and local buildings on and around the site, to create sympathetic architecture that is rich in detail, and with a layout that includes new streets, public squares and courtyard gardens that prioritise pedestrian movement and deliver the vision of the strategic campus masterplan.”

Adam Lawrence, chief executive of London Square, said: “We are delighted to receive approval to build new homes of exceptional quality, responding to a range of housing needs, from affordable, supported living to private for sale homes to first time buyers and families.”
