Residential
Former Greggs Bakery
To the north by the River Crane, a new residential hub is planned…
Twickenham / London
Overview
The vision is to redevelop the former Greggs Bakery light industrial site into a housing-led development, comprising 116 townhouses and apartments, in keeping with the local residential area.
Bound on three sides by residential streets and to the north by the River Crane, the design responds to the site’s constrained nature with three-character areas. At the entrance, commercial gable-ended buildings follow the streetscape of Edwin Road, leading to a tree-lined mews that comprises a variety of elevational treatments to break up the terrace and is designed to respect privacy and light into neighbouring properties.

Towards the river, a series of apartment buildings of various façades and roofscapes reflect the site’s industrial past, appearing as a collection of elements built over time, and are set back from the water to facilitate a new boardwalk, opening the river for residents and the local community.
