Russell Pedley nominated for Lifetime Achievement Award at the ARL People Awards 2024
Director and co-founder Russell Pedley has been nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedicated service in the Build to Rent (BTR) sector.
The Association for Rental Living (ARL), formerly the UK Apartment Association (UKAA), represents all institutionally backed, professionally managed purpose-built rental living sectors, encompassing urban and suburban single-family and multi-family rentals, co-living, and later living communities.
As a recognised membership body for the BTR sector, their annual conference has been praised for highlighting the voices of key leaders in the field and addressing issues to drive BTR forward and exploring further opportunities for engagements in developing actions for the sector. Having been an ARL member for many years, Russell has also spent this time spearheading Assael’s skills in the design of professionally managed Build to Rent communities in the private rented sector.
Leveraging years of research and insights gathered during his visits to the US, Russell has created design guides to support industry professionals across the UK. Assael is now one of the leading architects in the sector, paving the way with key projects such as Union Wharf in Greenwich for Essential Living and Blackhorse Mills in Walthamstow for Legal & General. Most recently, Russell has been leading the Assael team on two significant Build to Rent portfolios in the UK – for Connected Living London (the JV between TfL and Grainger plc) and John Lewis Partnership, gaining planning permission for their first Build to Rent homes.
Russell also co-authored both editions of the Urban Land Institute’s Build to Rent: A Best Practice Guide, commissioned by the British Government, and was an advisor on the MHCLG’s Build to Rent Joint Committee.
Russell’s nomination for a Lifetime Achievement Award at the ARL People Awards 2024 stands as a testament to his impactful contributions to the Build to Rent sector. Through his leadership at Assael, and influential industry collaborations, Russell has consistently advanced the visibility and accessibility of purpose-built rental living across the UK.
As an advocate, mentor, and visionary, Russell’s impact will undoubtedly continue to inspire and guide future developments in Build to Rent for years to come.
Congratulations again to Russell on the well-deserved nomination.
