Tom Banfield promoted to associate director
Assael has added to its senior management team with the promotion of Tom Banfield to associate director as the company continues to grow.
Tom joined Assael back in 2011 as an architectural assistant and has since become an essential member of the Assael team. He has been heavily involved in, and led, the design and delivery of many of the practice’s residential projects, from Build to Rent homes in Chelsea, urban design in Westminster, and affordable housing in Brentford.
In his role as associate director, Tom will continue working across all RIBA stages and leading his team on various projects, from delivering a residential development on a sensitive site in Barnet to the design of a large waterside masterplan in the Middle East.
As well as being an outstanding architect, Tom is a keen sportsman. He founded Assael’s tag rugby team, plays for the football and softball teams, and has won Assael’s charity pool tournament twice.
This promotion comes at a time of continued growth for Assael Architecture, having just enjoyed its most profitable year on record and scooping Building’s Good Employer Award in November.
John Assael, chairman, said:
“Tom has grown as both an architect and an individual since joining us in 2011. He plays an instrumental role in the day-to-day operation here at Assael whilst proving himself as a team player – both in the office and on the sports field.”
