Battersea Park Road

Start-up hub community joins the Battersea Power Station district

Wandsworth / London

Overview

Comprising a collection of buildings along the access route into the New Covent Garden Market, this scheme redevelops one of the last sites in the Nine Elms Opportunity Area.

The development will deliver 307 new homes located above restaurants and affordable business space. These incubator-style offices have been designed to target SMEs and creative start-ups, and to complement the commercial offering in surrounding developments, such as Battersea Power Station, to help nurture talent in the area.

Particular emphasis has been put on providing key pedestrian connections at this convergence point of the new Linear Park, Prospect Park and future Battersea underground station. A neighbourhood park and walking route runs through the centre of the site, and two prominent buildings along Battersea Park Road signify the new crossing point to the station. The façades combine dramatic geometric forms with a stone wrap, punctuated with metallic feature cut-out details.
